The perfect birthday present
Doc is celebrating today, and got a rather surprising, but welcome gift: the yellow Imp is now HTP-approved! Let the fun begin!
Que pasa?
We’re still knee-deep in getting the HTP for the yellow Imp. As soon as this is in place, work will continue on the Imps. I know we’ve said this before – but we hope to get some racing done in 2012. In the meantime, Doc has been working on his Jags – the mk2 due...
Get a modern car!
The ad translates to: For just NOK 14.950,- (about £1200) You may now purchase a small 5-seater of hypermodern standard, packed with practical advantages, sporty and fast, and extremely economical. Hillman Imp – The World’s Most Advanced Little Car
Still no racin’ Imps – on the circuit that is.
We had hoped to do the Classic & Sportscar Meeting last weekend, but ran into some nasty clutch issues. Both cars had the same disease when we took them out of the shop for a test drive. As soon as the engine was started, the clutch pedal went limp. I think we more or less...
A status update
Summer’s all over, and the season hasn’t really turned out as we hoped, has it? No racing so far…the closest we’ve gotten is a track day where we spent a rainy afternoon lapping in Doc’s Renault Clio Sport to learn the new Rudskogen track. The track is thrilling – it’s got plenty of elevation, it’s...
Pumpkin Mk2 touchdown
Doc spammed me with a few pics of this new baby just to make me start drooling! I sincerely think the classic yellow becomes her! It’s more or less ready to run, next up is a HTP photoshoot and a trial run. Hopefully, everything works out as planned. As for the blue Bevan replica, I’ve...
Getting dirty – at last!
I can’t even begin to tell just how good it felt to get some proper dirt on my fingers. For ages I’ve developed wussy-hands: too many diapers and too much sawdust!
Not quite done – missing first races
Well, it was a tall order – but Doc’s car isn’t quite complete. He injured his back being a granddad, which slowed progress somewhat. It’s very close though! The new engine for the blue Imp has also been delayed from the UK, we’re expecting it to arrive any day now. But the GOOD NEWS is...
More yellow progress…
With a sigh of triumph, doc sent me this pic today. We’re starting to believe the car just might be ready for the first races in a forthnight….
Yellow fever!
Doc’s getting his baby back. Groovy colors! This is actually something of a tradition; most of Doc’s racers have at some point been yellow. His Rawlson & Maguire ones sported the visible tint in the 80s. Fingers itching, the build will start within the next few days. Expect rapid progress!
