Gearing up for Velodromloppet

Gearing up for Velodromloppet

The highlight of our season is approaching in leaps & bounds. Fortunately the new Imp only needed slight attention after it’s debut. We aim to do a few setup changes, but nothing major. The one major issue we had to correct was that Doc never got the full power punch – upon investigation we found...
A successful debut for the new Imp at Våler

A successful debut for the new Imp at Våler

The new Historic FIA period G2 Imp surpassed everyones expectations in it’s first live-performance (except, perhaps it’s driver and builder?) by performing nearly flawlessly. Friday didn’t start off to well – Doc arrived on track in heavy rain, set up camp, and got ready to go out for free practice – but Pumkin did not...
Doc debuts in 2nd

Doc debuts in 2nd

The new Imp performed flawlessly – and after a race-long battle Doc grabbed 2nd in the under 1300cc class. More to follow! All photos: www.racefoto.se
At vålerbanen with pumpkin deux

At vålerbanen with pumpkin deux

Doc has spent the day battling carburettors rather than testing, but all sorted now. Scrutineering was a breeze. The Imp is on the light side at 630kgs, but I don’t trust the weights here (from experience they can be up to. +/- 30 kgs off…). Barely passed noise test at 100dB. Warm up tomorrow morning...
Doc going for a debut next weekend

Doc going for a debut next weekend

Doc will give the new yellow Imp (Pumpkin Mk2) it’s shake down and race debut at Våler on May 16th. Cross your fingers for a good run! The entry is excellent as usual for this round of the National Racing Classes. This is indeed a first test as well – the car has done a...
Alfa GTA project started

Alfa GTA project started

I suspect it was due to inspiration from a bottle of Barolo or Amarone during easter – anyway the Alfa GTA project has now been started. Doc’s been hacking steel/rust/bodges off, and adding yummy aluminium panels courtesy of Alfaholics. More to follow!
Back in business

Back in business

George the Imp is back in my garage, courtesy of Ole Larsen who was “taking the trip with a closed trailer anyway”. Coming home from work, I found it parked in my driveway and I realized just how much I’ve missed it! I had to throw out a truckload of tables, shelves, carboard and other...
Another racer!

Another racer!

Straying from the Small Historic Automobile theme for a moment – and bringing in a race project that still beats a modern VW Golf by 200 kgs. Doc really found a soft spot when he got his first Mk2 jag, and not content with his road going example, he got one that is destined to...
Mission complete

Mission complete

The mk 2 jag is now in the safe hands of CMC, in company with 96(!!) other beautiful cats. We’ve also checked out the latest Swift FIA Mini up close, and soaked up Race Retro. We’ll visit the show again tomorrow before heading back to the ferry.

Roadtripping in the UK

Doc, Ed, Ole and I are just about to embark from Harwich. We’ll be dropping by Swiftune and CMC today before heading up to Race Retro tomorrow. A Jag/Mini trip this time around. See you at the show?
The perfect birthday present

The perfect birthday present

Doc is celebrating today, and got a rather surprising, but welcome gift: the yellow Imp is now HTP-approved! Let the fun begin!
Finally on it's own wheels!

Finally on it’s own wheels!

My ’69 Cooper is finally down on it’s wheels for the first time in 5 years. This project started out back in 2004 when I set out to change the battery box in the boot and weld a  patch in one of the Mini’s notorious rust prone A-panels. Things went out of hand – sort...
